NWAC Events

The Northwest Art Center relies on support from individuals, foundations, and area businesses for approximately one-third of our annual budget. Your contributions help us continue our great core visual arts program as well as expand to meet the needs of our mentor students and teens. We continue to partner with the city of Duvall, local schools, local businesses and other arts organizations to bring more art in to the lives of others who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Dear Friends,

I’m so excited to share the news of this upcoming event that perfectly brings together my passion for art and literacy. The grand opening for Duvall’s beautiful new library is set for this summer and will have expanded space for people to research, read, and to meet as a community. Gracing the entry way, will be the award winning sculpture, “Fold”, created by the internationally acclaimed, Seattle-based artist, John Grade.

John’s work has a strong organic and environmental influence as well as the element of mystery. For example, a portion of our sculpture will be buried in the Arizona desert for 10 years, then reunited and installed with the piece at the Duvall Library. The ongoing story of what happens to the wooden sculpture is up to Mother Nature. Both portions of the sculptures will be on view at Gallery 4Culture in Seattle during the month of March and will be the last time until 2022 to see both parts of the sculpture together.

In the meantime, we have a fantastic opportunity to meet John on March 10thto learn more about the amazing arc of his career, the sculptures he’s created and what it’s like to head a team of artists and craftsmen. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear firsthand about his life and work.

The Duvall Friends of the Library is hosting this event to raise the monies needed to provide the base for the sculpture. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the DFOL, which raises funds for programs and services for the Duvall library.

Partnering with the Friends is Northwest Art Center. Included in the evening’s festivities will be a tribute to Conner Haack and Andrew Franklin, the Northwest Art Center’s two graduating seniors who are moving on to art school and exciting possibilities. They are the future John Grades of the world. We will review some of their work and accomplishments, sending them out into the world with our best wishes for their future careers in art.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and raffle benefiting the Northwest Art Center.  The raffle features a first place prize of a week-long stay (airfare not included) at Hali’I Kai at Waikoloa in Kona, Hawaii.  Second prize for the raffle will be a two-night stay at the premier beach accommodations of Solla Sollew in Seabrook, WA.

To purchase event tickets, or for more information about the “Raising the Foundation” event, please visit the Duvall Friends of the Library website by clicking here.
